1850s HANOVER German .48 Caliber Percussion Pistol by LÖFFLER Antique
Engraved, Single Set Trigger, Octagonal Barrel
Here we present an antique Percussion Pistol by Löffler, manufactured circa the mid-1800s. Löffler was a German gunmaker from Hanover circa the 1850s. This pistol features a Damascus twist octagonal barrel with a rifled .48 caliber bore. The front sight is a windage adjustable blade with a notched rear sight. The trigger is single set and adjustable. The iron trigger guard is handsomely engraved, while the back action lock and hammer is engraved with a German scroll motif. “No 1” stamped atop the barrel, since this would have been one of a pair originally. “Löffler” is engraved on the lock. The stock is very comfortable and finely crafted with a horn tip.
The overall condition is fine. Nice Damascus pattern remains on the barrel. Excellent action. The bore is fine with sharp rifling. The stock is smooth and solid, superior to most stocks of this age. This is a wonderful piece of Old World German craftsmanship!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 6-1/2 inches.
Caliber: .48 Percussion (.480 from land to land)
Overall condition as seen in photos.
