17th Century BRESCIAN Antique .52 Cal. FLINTLOCK Pistol by LAZARO LAZARINO
Here we present an Ornate Antique Flintlock Pistol by Lazaro Lazarino, made circa the 17th Century. Lazaro Lazarino is listed in European Hand Firearms of the 16th, 17th & 18th Centuries as a maker from 17th Century Brescia. This is a large pistol, with a better than 13-inch-long barrel in .52 caliber, perfectly able in a military setting, but it may have also been in the hands of a private citizen. Typical of Brescian firearms of this period is the engraved hardware, to include the side plate, pommel cap and trigger guard. The top of the part-octagonal, part-round barrel is the maker’s name “LAZARO LAZARINO”. Though made in Brescia, this pistol may have been sold in many places throughout Europe as Brescia was an ancient firearms-making center and remains so today.
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and in good shape. The stock remains solid, though it certainly shows use. This is a beautiful and very old pistol from the late-1600s, made in Brescia!
