1700s BERNARDINUS de ANGELIS Antique EUROPEAN Flintlock FIGHTING PISTOL .53
Large Martial Pistol from the Continent
Here we present an antique Bernardinus de Angelis Flintlock Pistol, made circa the mid-1700s. This is a large pistol with an overall length of 19 ½” with a 12 5/16” barrel in .53 caliber. This pommel has a large brass cap enforcement so the pistol was still a lethal weapon after it had fired its one shot. It has shapely brass fittings such as the trigger guard, sideplate, and ramrod tubes with some flourishes of engraving. Both the barrel and the lock plate curling under the flash pan is inscribed with the maker’s name “BERNARDINVS DE ANGELIS”.
The overall condition is very good. Original patina. The action is excellent. The bore is patinated and smooth. The stock is solid and showing use. Overall, a very handsome fighting pistol from the mid-18th Century!
