FRENCH Antique NAPOLEONIC WARS Era Model AN IX Flintlock GENDARMERIE Pistol
French MILITARY ARSENAL Made Napoleonic Wars Pistol
Here we present an antique French Pistolet modèle An IX, or Pistol Model An 9, made at one of the French Arsenal in France circa 1812. This model was manufactured at all three of the French Arsenals, Charleville, Maubeuge, and St-Etienne. This pistol was made as a military police pistol and continues to survive in its original flintlock state!
A Gendarmerie is a military force with law enforcement duties among the civilian population. The Police Nationale is responsible for Paris and other urban areas whereas the Gendarmerie is responsible for small towns and rural areas with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. This pistol was made of robust construction. The bore is a massive .60 caliber. With the era this pistol came from, it is possible, if not likely, that it was used during the latter Napoleonic Wars.
The overall condition is good+. Original patina. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is solid.
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 5-1/8 inches.
Caliber: .60 Flintlock
Overall condition as seen in photos.
