Pre-64 WINCHESTER Model 43 .218 BEE Bolt Action C&R HUNTING/SPORTING Rifle
With LEATHER SLING and RECEIVER DRILLED & TAPPED
Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R Winchester Model 43 Bolt Action Rifle manufactured in 1950 New Haven, Connecticut. Interestingly, the Winchester Model 43 is commonly referred to as “The Poor Man’s Model 70”. It is a magazine-fed bolt-action rifle made by Winchester between 1948 and 1953. The Model 43 was chambered in 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 25-20 Win, and 32-20 Win, making it a great option for the varmint hunter. During its five year production run, just around 62,617 were produced. Essentially, this gun was a larger and stronger version of the Winchester Model 69A.
The magazine is a detachable box that fits flush with the bottom of the stock. There were two types of these magazines for this model. One works with the .218 Bee, 25-20, and 32-20, and the other is 22 Hornet specific. These guns are great little rifles chambered in fun cartridges.
The brass sling keeper is marked “AL FREELAND” with “MASHBURN” stamped over the caliber. Also included is a leather sling. The receiver is drilled and tapped.
The overall condition is fine. Much of the original blue is preserved. Excellent action. Bright bore with crisp rifling. Fine stock. Markings are sharp. Drilled and tapped receiver with screw plugs. Excellent Winchester leather sling. Lyman rear peep sight.
